Farm Junk to Vintage Chic

I have been just itchin' to go junking or to flea markets! Spring is almost here... and so will be many shows. I can not wait! Check back to find out what I have found or where I will be going. People will be getting rid of their old junk which will be my new found treasures.

Here is a piece I found last summer (at a garage sale) that I repainted and added some glass knobs. On the top I added chalkboard paint... to write a menu on or a greeting for my guests. Yes.. I did paint it that way. The more distressed the more I like it =)

Shabby Chic Files Bankruptcy

Wow! What can I say?? Except it is back to the basics. Just a sign of the times that people are more thrifty today then they have been in a long time. Myself I haven't purchased any new furniture for a couple of years. I am a garage sale, goodwill gal.. I find something that I can change to work with my decor. A little bit of elbow grease goes a long way.

Romantic ideas for Valentine's Day

Some romantic ideas for Valentine's Day~

"Chalk" Full of Love~

Use sidewalk chalk~ the kids will enjoy this too.
Take the kids outside and tell them you are going to draw special pictures for daddy or mommy on the sidewalk. Say things like "We love you", "Your beautiful", or "Your my special someone" along with hearts and your drawings. When they arrive home they will be excited about the effort you went through for them. Take some pics to share year after year. "Who would of ever thought chalk could be so romantic?"

Romantic Website~ What a great idea!!!

Last year for Valentines Day I wanted to do something thoughtful for my wife.
My friend suggested the idea of making a romantic website for her.
I fell in love with the idea, and put together a website with a whole bunch of pictures and poems dedicated to how much I love her.
It was so perfect! She absolutely LOVED it!
When I made it, I made the domain name www.hername.com
So when we were at the compouter one day, I suggested that she should look up hername.com for fun, just to see if anything came up.
Instantly, up popped the website I had made for her.
She was speechless!
To this day her face lights up whenever she tells people the story of her romantic website.

It was definately the most romantic thing I've ever done!

One White Rose~ He is a keeper!

My girlfriend went crazy over this one!
I bought a bouqeut of a dozen roses.
11 of them were red, and one of them was white.
I put the white one in the middle of the bouquet, with a note attatched that said "Like this rose, your beauty stands out amoung the rest."
She loved it!

Romantic coupons are a great gift idea~ They're fun, flirty and always very romantic!
- Plus they're FREE!
Here's how they work..

A love coupon is like small promissory note that you give to your partner.
When they present the coupon to you, you do whatever that coupon stipulates.
They can say for example: "Good For One Free Foot Rub", or "Good For One Free Candlelight Dinner".
Then you have to do what the coupon says.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

A classic little treat perfect for a date or as a gift, chocolate covered strawberries are a defined part of romance in America. Dressed up to the nines in white and dark chocolate tuxedos, they have some cuteness added to them here. It's a treat that's perfect for that special someone.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Recipe

Ingredients
24-30 strawberries, fresh
6 ounces of white chocolate
8 ounces of dark chocolate
Method
1 Wash and dry the strawberries, making sure the berries are fully dry as water will cause chocolate to seize up.

2 Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. Follow the melting directions on the package.

3 Dip the strawberry in the white chocolate, holding onto the stem or the "shoulders" of the strawberry. Give it a quick little twist and shake with your fingers to shake off the excess and then point it at the ceiling for a second or two to ensure that the chocolate adheres. Place on a piece of wax paper to let dry.

4 Melt the dark chocolate according to the instructions on the package. Dip the strawberry in at a 45 degree angle from both sides to make the "jacket". Let the excess drip off. Place on wax paper to dry.

5 Place some melted dark chocolate into a piping bag with a very small tip, or in a ziplock bag with the little corner snipped off and pipe on buttons and bow tie.

6 Allow to dry and cool. (If drying seems to go too slowly, place them in the freezer for about 3-5 minutes.)

Best eaten the day they are made.

Ooh So Chic! Valentine cards

I came across this and thought I could do this with my daughter's class for Valentine's Day. I just can not believe how real they look! Enjoy!

Leafy vegetables make great-tasting salads -- and sumptuous floral-shaped stamps, too. Here, the end of a head of Treviso radicchio yields a roselike print. Cut off stem end with a sharp knife, and stand stem on a paper towel, cut-side down, for 5 minutes to dry. Press cut side onto a large stamp pad, then onto cards, stationery, and more, blotting on paper towel between presses. Vary stamp shapes with other vegetables, such as romaine lettuce stems or even brussels sprouts cut in half.
